ECHOES OF CHOBE

Black and White Wildlife Photography from Botswana

Artist’s favorites

My first Africa trip on the Chobe River in northern Botswana. The largest elephant population on the continent, moving at the water's edge at dawn. Buffalo, lion, leopard. This is the first body of work in the collection — built on early starts, long waits, and the decision to work in black and white because the river, the mud, and the sky already carry every tone the scene needs.

About the Location

The Chobe River in northern Botswana is one of Africa’s greatest wildlife regions. It supports the largest population of elephants on the continent, along with lions, leopards, buffalo, and hundreds of bird species. Its shifting seasons — from dry plains to lush floodplains — create the contrasts that define this landscape and make it a remarkable setting for fine art wildlife photography.

My Artistic Vision for This Collection

While photographing along the Chobe River, my goal was to portray animals as they truly live — calm, aware, and deeply connected to their surroundings. I focused on composition, light, and expression to reveal their strength without exaggeration.

Working in black and white helped me remove distractions and focus on emotion, texture, and presence. Echoes of Chobe represents my belief that powerful wildlife images come from patience, honesty, and respect — not spectacle.
