Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the most common questions from collectors, interior designers, and galleries considering limited edition fine art photography by Vasilis Moustakas. If something is not covered here, get in touch.

About the Work

  • Across multiple continents. The Chobe River in Botswana. The Masai Mara. Yosemite National Park. The glacial landscapes of Iceland. The wetlands of northern Greece. Each place demands its own pace. Some images take days of waiting in silence. Some happen in a single breath. The work is built around patience, not volume.

  • No. No baiting, no staging, no manipulation of any kind. What you see in the photograph actually happened. That is non-negotiable. My collections — Echoes of Chobe, The Heart of the Wild, The Kingdom of Pelicans — are all built on real encounters, real moments.

  • Processing is intentional and restrained. I shape the final image with clarity and balance, but I do not add, remove, or fabricate elements. The truth of the moment stays intact.

  • Black and white strips away distraction. It lets form, presence, and emotion speak on their own — especially in wildlife and elemental landscapes. It removes the obvious and reveals what the scene actually holds. Collections like Echoes of Chobe and The Land of Ice were built around this approach.

Limited Editions & Value

  • Each photograph is released in a strictly limited number of prints — either 12 or 21 editions, depending on the work. Once an edition is complete, the image is never reproduced again in that format or size. The number is fixed before the first print ships. No exceptions, no later additions.

  • Because rarity protects the work and the people who collect it. Limiting editions means the image stays meaningful over time. It prevents over-distribution and ensures that owning a print means something — both now and decades from now.

  • Yes. Every limited edition print is signed and numbered, accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.

  • No. All fine art work is released exclusively as limited editions.

  • Yes. As editions progress and availability decreases, prices increase. Early acquisitions offer the best value and the widest choice of edition numbers. If you see something that resonates, earlier is better.

Materials & Print Quality

  • All prints are produced on Hahnemühle museum-grade archival papers using professional pigment inks. I select the specific paper and finish for each image based on its character — the surface texture, tonal range, and how light interacts with the print. The paper is part of the artwork, not an afterthought.

  • An archival print uses materials designed for permanence — acid-free papers, pigment-based inks, controlled production processes. The result is a print that holds its depth, contrast, and tone for decades. These are materials built for museum and gallery-level display.

  • With proper care and archival framing, Hahnemühle prints with pigment inks are designed to last several decades without visible fading or degradation.

  • Yes. Prints are available unframed, and selected works can be professionally framed depending on the artwork and its destination. I have specific framing guidance for collectors who want to handle framing on their own.

  • No. Every print maintains the original composition and aspect ratio. The image you see is the image you receive. Nothing is cut to fit a frame.

Sizes & Placement

  • Each artwork is offered in a curated range of sizes chosen to maintain balance and presence. Sizes vary by image and edition — some works are made for intimate spaces, others are meant to command a wall.

  • Yes. Many works are available in larger formats designed for feature walls and architectural interiors. Large-scale prints carry a completely different presence — they stop you when you enter a room.

  • Yes. I regularly work with collectors to find the right size based on wall dimensions, ceiling height, furniture scale, and the atmosphere they want to create. Send me photos or measurements of your space and I will guide you.

  • Yes. How a photograph is placed affects everything — how the light hits it, how it relates to the room, how it feels when you walk in. I can advise based on your ceiling height, natural light, and the visual flow of the room.

Authenticity & Provenance

  • Every limited edition print is signed, numbered, and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity documenting the artwork title, edition number, total edition size, and production details.

  • Provenance establishes trust and history. It ensures the artwork can be traced back to the artist and edition — which matters for serious collecting, for resale, and for the long-term integrity of the work.

  • No. Once an edition is complete, the work is retired permanently. It will not be reproduced in that format or size again. This is a commitment I make to every collector.

Shipping & Care

  • Yes. Worldwide shipping is available. Most of my collectors are US-based, but I ship regularly to Europe, the UK, Australia, and beyond.

  • Production and delivery times depend on size, framing, and destination. Most orders are completed and shipped within a few weeks.

  • All prints are professionally packaged using archival materials and reinforced protection. I treat every shipment as if it is going to a gallery — because to the collector receiving it, that is exactly what it is.

  • In the rare event of damage during shipping, contact me immediately. Every situation is handled carefully and resolved promptly.

  • Avoid direct sunlight, high humidity, and extreme temperature changes. Professional archival framing with UV-protective glass is the best long-term protection. More detail on care and framing is available here.

For Collectors, Designers & Galleries

  • Choose an image you feel connected to — something that holds your attention beyond the first look. Then consider the edition size, the scale that works for your space, and how the work will live with you over time. If you are unsure where to start, reach out. I am happy to help you find the right piece.

  • Art should always be acquired for connection first. That said, limited editions, consistent artistic vision, and documented provenance all contribute to long-term collectibility. If you want to understand more about the value side, I wrote about it here.

  • Yes. I work with art consultants, designers, and architects who are sourcing original fine art for private and corporate collections. The work is placed on its own terms — I do not create to match a space, but I am happy to guide placement so the piece lives well where it lands. If you are working on a project, get in touch with details.

  • Select collaborations are considered when there is strong alignment in vision and presentation standards. If you represent a gallery and see a fit, please reach out.
