I believe the most compelling way to photograph pelicans is at the moment they touch the water. That instant reveals the bird in its purest form — the wings fully open, the body suspended between air and surface.

There are days at Lake Kerkini when the water becomes a mirror. Everything reflects back: the birds, the sky, the mountains, the quiet line of the shoreline. On this afternoon, I worked with that stillness. From the boat, I followed the pelicans as they moved alongside us, waiting for the rhythm of their landings to align with the calm of the lake.

What drew me to this frame was the contrast. Two pelicans descending together, their movement and reflections creating energy, set against a landscape stripped down to its essentials. The gesture of the birds carries the image.

Photographs like this depend on perfect timing — but also on cooperation that cannot be directed. The animals decide the moment. When all elements fall into place — motion, reflection, space — the result feels resolved. Calm and power in the same frame.

The Edition

Edition of 7 + 2 Artist Proofs

The seven prints are shared across all three sizes, so whichever scale you choose, it is one of seven. When the last print is placed, the image is retired and never printed again.

Pricing follows the edition. Each print placed moves the next one up, so the earliest collectors acquire the work at its lowest price.

The Print

Each print is made as an archival pigment print on Hahnemühle fine art paper, chosen for its depth, tonal range and a surface that rewards close looking. Every print is signed and numbered by hand and arrives with a Certificate of Authenticity recording the title, edition number and production details.
